Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition obviously dates to after the fall of the Despensers, for it explicitly complains about them and their maintenance of de la Rokell. The petition refers to the rent being withheld for 12 years, though whether this is actually a credible chronology is not entirely clear, as the Despensers only emerged slowly as a significant influence in Edward II's reign after Bannockburn. c. 1327 seems a reasonable date to adopt.
