Nature of request
The petitioners show that Giffard granted the manor of Deddington to the Abels but that Despenser by his power forced John Abel to grant it to Harondon who subsequently granted it to Despenser. The lands are now in the king's hand by Despenser's forfeiture and the petitioners request remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Let them show the fine in Chancery and there let certain men be assigned to enquire into the things contained and other necessary articles in the presence of the keeper; and the muniments of Despenser are to be searched to see if anything can be found to bar the petitioners' demands, and the inquisition and certification are to be returned and the king be advised.
