Description

Robert de Stratford, fishmonger of London.
Name(s)
de Stratford, Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Occupation
fishmonger of London
Nature of request
Stratford shows that Spray and the other purchasers took from the Flyntards and Reeve his companions fish for the use of the king for which they have tallies. They have sued to diverse individuals without success so that they request that a remedy be ordained for the payment.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the treasurer, barons and chamberlains of the Exchequer that when they have viewed what the petitioner has concerning the debt, and the account of the late wardrober on this, if they find that the debt is still due they are to make allowance, assignment or payment as soon as they decently can, receiving etc. and charging etc.
Places mentioned
London.
People mentioned
Ralph Spray, purchaser of the king
Robert Romayn, purchaser of the king
Robert Turk, purchaser of the king
Adam [de] Wy (Chambre), purchaser of the king
Robert Flyntard (Flynthard), fishmonger

William le Reve (Reeve), fishmonger
William de Northwelle, clerk of the kitchen
Robert de Wodehous (Woodhouse), treasurer of the wardrobe
John de Ocham
Robert de Baldak (Baldock).
Note
The guard dates this to c.1323. The petition would seem to be in the reign of Edward II as it refers to several members of the king's administration, and Robert de Baldock is referred to with no reference to him being chancellor or the former chancellor. The date of c.1323 seems reasonable.
