Nature of request
Babeham shows that the manor of Bisham came into the hand of Edward II by the forfeiture of the earl of Lancaster. Babeham was granted lands in the manor after they were left fallow and the rents and services were in arrears by Robert de Hungerford the keeper of them. However one John Harding by his allegation to the king and Mortimer that the lands had come into the king's hand by the younger Despenser's forfeiture, entered the lands by the king's letters. Babeham requests that he is able to have the tenement for the services for which they were delivered to him in the time of Edward II.
Nature of endorsement
Let certain men be assigned to enquire in the presence of the sheriff how long Babeham held the land, how much of the arrears he paid, and what damages he suffered when he was ousted, and when the inquisition has been returned into Chancery, let the king be advised.
