Nature of request
The people show that though many of them hold nothing of Dover castle, and it has no jurisdiction over them, they are constrained grievously by the ministers of the castle by all manner of personal pleas which attain to the king and the liberties of other lords by which they are ruined. They request that the king ordain that the castle have such liberty as anciently are due, but that the usages and customs made by new encroachment are repealed so that the people are not ruined forever.
Nature of endorsement
The ministers should not have jurisdiction beyond the fee of the honour of the castle of Dover, nor make process by capias beyond the liberty of the Cinque Ports.
