Nature of request
The abbot and convent state that John, late the abbot of Colchester leased to Greyland for his life the advowson of the churches of St Mary Woolchurch Haw and St Stephen, Walbrook without the assent of the convent. Following Greyland's death the advowsons were seized into the hand of the king though they were not held of the king in chief. The abbot and convent request that the king remove his hand, and grant to them a 'pardonavimus'.
Nature of endorsement
Let the cause of the taking of the advowson into the king's hand be viewed in Chancery, and if there be no other cause than that comprised in the bill, let the hand of the king be removed.

Dated to 1362 by the heading in Rot. Parl., Vol. II, p.274. The petitions here are Ryley transcripts and in this case the date seems to be about right as the king granted the requests in the petition in February 1363 (CPR 1361-4, p.316).
