Nature of request
Rodeney shows that Basing procured a bull from the court of Rome against the abbot of Keynsham so that the church of West Harptree of which Walter is patron was made vacant. The abbot entered the church by a collation made to him by Rodeney. After this Basing entered against the abbot and was ousted whereupon he sued in the court of Rome and successfully claimed the church out of the possession of the abbot for which Walter requests remedy.
