Description
Petitioners
Roger Bissepesden (Bishopton); Joan de Bissepesden (Bishopton) wife of Roger de Bishopton and widow of John de Bromley.
Name(s)
Bissepesden (Bishopton); de Bissepesden (Bishopton), Roger; Joan
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The Bissepesdens show that Amice de Brumeleye gave to her son John lands in Hopsford and Ashorne, he then gave the lands to John Athelard who granted them back to John de Brumeleye and Joan his wife for their lives with reversion to him. Athelard subsequently granted the reversion to the Hastings. After the death of John de Brumeley, Richard Pacy and Pernel his wife brought a writ of Formedon against the Bissepedens for the lands alleging that they had been given to John de Brumeleye and Joan his first wife and the heirs from their bodies begotten, which writ has been pending for 2 years. The Bissepedens had a day at the octave of Trinity next, but before the plea could be heard Pakenham, Wolfurton and Rouel with the assent of the Pacys disseised the Bissepedens. The Pacys then brought another writ of Formedon against Rouel who came into court and said that he could not deny their demand, by which seisin was adjudged to the Pacys in deceit of the court, and the Bissepedens are ousted from their lands in disinheritance of the Hastings. The Bissepedens and Hastings request remedy.
Nature of endorsement
They are to have in this case a writ of novel disseisin at the common law.
