John of Rotherwick, abbot of Chertsey.
Name(s)
Rotherwick, John
Addressees

abbot of Chertsey
Nature of request
The abbot shows that William de Henley held the manor of Henley from them, and afterwards the manor came into the hand of the king, and the rent is withdrawn ever since. The abbot requests that the rent be restored with the arrears.
Nature of endorsement
Faithful people in Chancery are to inquire in the presence etc. of the contents and of the seisin of the abbot and other necessary articles. And the memoranda rolls are to be scrutinised to see if anything can be found to exclude the abbot from his demand, and the inquisition is to be returned into Chancery, when it has been examined, the king is further to be informed.
Places mentioned
Henley, [Surrey]
Framelesworthe (Fremsworth), [Surrey].
People mentioned
William de Henle (Henley).
Note
Although this is dated to 1335 by the heading in Rot. Parl., vol II, p.90 noting these to be petitions in parliament for 9 Edward III, the date of the inquisition apparently made in response to this petition dates to 1327, so that this petition almost certainly dates to 1327 (CIM 1307-49,pp.984-5 (no.984)).
