Nature of request
Kendale shows that the church is of the advowson of the king, and that the fishermen in Rye do not render tithes from their fisheries to Kendale. He requests the king's permission to sue his action against the fishermen for the tithes in a court Christian, without incurring the anger or contempt of the king.

The petition is dated to 1334, as there seems no reason to date this any differently from the near identical petition surviving as SC 8/12/557A, which is dated by the heading in Rot. Parl., vol II, p.73, making this part of a section of petitions in parliament in 8 Edward III.
