Nature of request
Sapy requests that the king order a writ to his treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they make due allowance for his farm of the tolls for the upkeep of the forest roads because of the accrual of losses occurred by gifts made by the king and his ancestors. Sapy shows that he used to receive wood for Cheminage, have a weir at Bigsweir, rents from wastes and lands, profits from agistments of beasts, and the tithes from a mine, all of which are diminished or lost because of grants made by the king.

It is ordered that this petition be sent to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, and when they have viewed the things contained in it they are to do justice.

Note
The petition is dated to the period between 1331 and 1335 because these were the years through which Sapy held the castle of St Briavels and the Forest of Dean. He received the commitment of the same on 21 December 1330 (CFR 1327-37, p. 211) and was replaced by Guy Brian on 14 October 1335 (CFR 1327-37, p.211).
