Nature of request
The chaplains and ministers request remedy concerning their small portions in the chapel which is assessed on a certain sum of money issuing out of the rents and benefices pertaining to the sacrist of York. The sacrist by an ordinance should pay the tithes, but ever since the time of Edward I the collectors of the king have charged the chaplains and ministers arbitrarily and wrongfully.
Nature of endorsement
It is ordered that the petition be sent to Chancery and also to the Exchequer to provide information as to when the tithes were first demanded of the portions as the petition purports, and by what cause and on other necessary matters which concern this business in this case. And when the Chancery has been informed the wise men of the council are to be summoned if it is necessary, and according to their advice justice is to be done.

The petition is dated to 1330 by the heading in Rot. Parl., vol II, p.31 which records that this is from a Hale manuscript of petitions in parliament of 4 Edward III at Westminster after the feast of St Katherine (25 November).
