Nature of request
The archbishop complains that the bailiff has seized the port of Hull and the franchises of the archbishop into the king's hand, and has seized the prises of wine there which are the right of the church of York, and the rents of the archbishop's tenants without judgement or process of law. The archbishop requests a writ de ouster le main to Ispania, and that he cease such harsh treatments made against the law and against Magna Carta. He also requests remedy concerning chattels to the value of £200.

This petition is likely to date to 1330 because related petitions also date to this year (Rot. Parl., vol II, p.39b (no.41). A commission was also made at the petition of the bailiffs of the port that the arcbishop was usurping royal franchises and rights on 24 July 1330 (CPR 1327-30, pp.569-70).
