Nature of request
The friars state that they have a grant of alms by letters patent from Edward II for the sustenance of 24 friars to be taken at the Exchequer for a vow that he made in the Scottish war at Stirling when he was in great danger. They received the alms for a long time, but it has been withheld from them for many years. They request that the king order that the vow be complied with so that they are better able to serve God and discharge the vow.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.They should advise how and in what manner the king can meet their request, and when they have informed him, and upon their information he will by his good council ordain what is rightly to be done.

The petition is dated to 1330 by the heading in Rot. Parl., vol II, p.31 which records that this is from a Hale manuscript of petitions in parliament of 4 Edward III at Westminster after the feast of St Katherine (25 November).
