Nature of request
Writ from Edward II to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer stating that the Bishop of Llandaff has requested a tithe of the iron mines within the parish of Newland, and asking them to search the rolls and memoranda of the Exchequer to find out if such a tithe had been paid previously, or some compensation made for it, and to inform him on this matter at the present parliament.
Nature of endorsement
Having examined the rolls and memoranda of the Exchequer, we have not found if the tithes of which mention is made in this writ were previously paid, or if any compensation was made in place of those tithes, or not.

Note
The writ is dated to 1320 with SC 8/10/498A, the petition with which it was enclosed. This dating is based on the dating of this writ which is dated at Westminster, 26 October 14 Edward II (26 October 1320). Petitions Relating to Wales, p.31 misdates it as 27 October.
