Nature of request
A transcript of letters patent from the justices, eschevins, jurats and community of Mechelen to the Chastelain, justices and eschevins of Lens and all others declaring that on the testimony of trustworthy people of Mechelen, the cloth which Geoffrey de la Penne, valet of Stephen de Abyndon, bought in Mechelen, was made there, and loaded there for transport to Wissant. They understand that it was seized in Lens as cloth from Flanders, and request that it be returned to the aforesaid merchant, or to his messenger, bearer of these letters.
Nature of endorsement
He is to show in Chancery the letters which he has from the King of France, and, when they have been examined, if it is found that the king of France owes him such a sum, and the terms of payment are passed, then a writ of Chancery is to be issued to seize up to the same sum from the goods of the merchants of the kingdom of France, until etc. [Response to SC 8/10/478]
