Description
Petitioners
Abbot and convent of Jedburgh.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The abbot and convent of Jedburgh state that their church of Restenneth was vested and seised, as in perpetual alms, of the second tithes of the king's demesnes in money and corn, since the time of King Malcolm and by his gift and charter, until they were expelled by John de Weston and James de Dalilee, and afterwards by John de Sandale, for no other reason than that the second tithes issued from the king's demesnes. They request grace and a remedy, as Holy Church has been granted in full all they held from the time of King Malcolm to the time of King Alexander.

They have shown before the council the charters of king Malcolm, which attest the contents of the present bill. Therefore they are to have a writ to the Chamberlain to do justice to them, according to the form of the commission given to him concerning second tithes for all religious of the whole land of Scotland.
