Nature of request
The abbots of Melrose and Coupar Angus state that they have come to London at the king's command, at great trouble and at their own expense, and that the clergy were taxed for the expenses of the two bishops and two abbots, as envoys, but they have received nothing of this money. They request that the king order the Chamberlain of Scotland to receive the account of the collectors of the tax, and that they be paid their reasonable expenses.
Nature of endorsement
They are to have a writ to the Chamberlain that, when he has audited the account of the collectors, he is to let them have a reasonable allowance, according to the share due to them.
