Abbot and convent of Melrose.

Nature of request
The abbot and convent of Melrose make two requests:1) They request confirmation of their charters.2) They request that he take pity on the burning of their houses, the losses and the damages that they have suffered within his peace and under his protection, and that he might grant them wood in his Forest of Selkirk to re-build, as he promised.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.With regard to the confirmation, they are to go to Roger le Brabanzon and his colleagues, and show their charters there.With regard to the protection, the king has taken all religious into his protection.With regard to the third, they are to have wood to the sum of 40 oaks.
