Nature of request
John de Corbrigge states that he had lived in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed for a long time before the first Scottish war, but when he knew that the Scots were planning an uprising against the king, he left it and went to Corbridge, where he was born and had lands and tenements; and his property there was destroyed and burnt down twice by the Scots. He then returned to Berwick, where he has lived since then, aiding the king bodily and with his goods insofar as he can. He requests grace of the lands and tenements he had in Berwick before its conquest, as he has not forfeited anything; and he requests an inquiry into this.
