Nature of request

David, Marshal of Scotland states that the king has granted him all his inheritance in Scotland, and that he holds the office of Marshal by inheritance, as all his ancestors have; therefore he requests that no-one enter into this office unless he is adjudged to lose it by his peers.

Nature of endorsement

He is to have a writ to the king's Lieutenant in Scotland to inquire into whether the said office of marshal belongs to David's inheritance or not; and if he finds any difficulty, he is to inform the king at the next parliament.
