Nature of request
Geoffrey de Morton, merchant of the earl of Ulster, states that a writ was sent to John Wogan, justiciar of Ireland, to send all the merchants of those parts with their wines or provisions to the new castle at Ayr, and by virtue of this writ John Wogan issued a prohibition in respect of Geoffrey's provisions, that they were to go only where the king had ordered, and that the king was obliged to make good any losses suffered by Geoffrey at sea, and took sureties from Geoffrey that he would send them there. But Geoffrey's ships and provisions waited there so long for the king's arrival, that the provisions perished, and some of the ships were lost in a storm. He requests that the king assign him compensation for these losses.

He is to have a writ to the Chancellor, Justiciar and Treasurer of Ireland, that they are to inquire fully into this matter, and inform the king about it.These petitions are to be discussed.
