Treasurer and council.
Nature of request
Roger de Morewode, on behalf of the king, states that some thirty men are indicted before the coroners in Nottinghamshire of the death of a Frenchman, procurator of Stoke and of the death of Mauger Homaz. They were appealed by Maud, widow of Mauger Homaz, before the coroners, but she did not pursue her appeal, so that the justices could do nothing, the gaol has been encumbered with them for two years, and some of them have died there. The king would also gain a lot of land in escheats if they were convicted. Roger requests a writ to Piers de Maule and John del Ille, appointed to hold inquests in Nottinghamshire, to hear and determine (oyer and terminer) these indictments and appeals.

They are to sue a writ to Peter de Maule and his companions.
