Nature of request
Hugh, son of Christina de Pleysingho, states that his mother was given a messuage, ten acres of land and an acre and a half of meadow in Skeffling in Holderness, for her and her heirs, by her father, William de Pleysingho, and that she was in seisin of these for a long time, as all the area knows. But she left the area, and while she was away, one John de Pleysingho entered the tenements and disseised her of them, and gave them to the count of Aumale. After the earl's death the king seized these lands with the others which were his. Hugh requests a writ to the escheator north of the Trent to enquire into his right, and to do grace and remedy in accordance with the inquisition.

Note
Thomas de Forz, count of Aumale, died in 1269. Escheators north and south of the Trent were discontinued in November 1275 and reinstated in November 1281. On the basis of the handwriting this petition has been dated to this later period, but before the death of Edward I.
