Nature of request
Walter de Selby states that he has delivered various writs (a transcript of which is sewn to this petition) to the bishop of Durham and to his predecessor, to deliver to him his lands within the bishop's franchise of Durham; but the bishop has not done anything, because Thomas Surtees holds these lands of the gift of Louis, formerly bishop of Durham, predecessor of the current bishop. He asks the king to consider the fact that he is on his service in Scotland, and to order the bishop to take the lands into his hand and to deliver them to Walter.
