Description

Hugh Poyntz.
Name(s)
Poyntz, Hugh
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Hugh Poyntz states that William de Reed held certain lands and tenements of him in Fisherton de la Mere and Bapton, in Wiltshire, and married Elizabeth, daughter and one of the heirs of Piers de la Stane, part of whose inheritance these lands were. William also held various lands and tenements of the king in Cainhoe and Silton. Now both William and Elizabeth are dead, and their heirs under age, and the lands in Fisherton de la Mere and Bapton have been seized into the king's hand together with the lands held of the king. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
He is to go to Chancery, and if the inquisition returned there is inadequate, he is to sue another inquisition.

Note
Date given on the evidence of Rot. Parl. JRS Phillips (PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337) says that these petitions probably all do belong to 18 Edward II, although there is no indication that they were presented either at the non-parliamentary assembly of October 1324 or the parliament of June 1325.
