Nature of request
The prior of Bridlington states that although he and his predecessors have always been lords of the manor of Blubberhouses, with its appurtenances, and that approvement of waste there belongs to him by right, William le Vaux, formerly constable of Knaresborough castle, by power of his bailiwick had five hundred acres of the prior's land within the manor enclosed by a ditch, as for the king's benefit, and assarted them, and made arable land, and built houses, in disinheritance of the prior's church. All of this is still in the king's hand, and he requests law and justice.

Note
CPR 1307-1313, p. 493 gives a grant of 13 September 1312 to William de Vallibus of custody of the castle and honour of Knaresburgh, which he holds of the king's commission, to hold until the king provides him with land to the value of 100 marks a year to hold for his life. CPR 1313-1317, p. 99 shows that he is still in the post on 1 April 1314. CCR 1318-1323, p.225 shows that he is dead by March 1320.
