Nature of request
Copy of an extract of an inquisition (held during the last Eyre of London according to SC 8/8/351), concerning a piece of the king's land, on which, eight years previously, Hugh de Waltham and the parishioners of St Peter's, Cornhill, built a house, now inhabited by an anchorite, and where the same parishioners enclosed a plot of land with a palisade, to the harm of the country. John de Oxonia now holds this and because they do not know with what warranty he is summoned; he asks that he might arrent it from the king for twelve pence per annum. This is granted.
