Description
Petitioners
Executors of the testament of John de Rolleston.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The executors of the testament of John de Rolleston state that John died without rendering his account, and that Richard de Lustreshull, who was appointed by the king, received the account from them: so that the king owed them one hundred and eighty pounds, sixteen shillings and ten pence. However, Richard and brother Walter de Assherugges took and carried off goods and chattels worth forty pounds, of which the executors should have had administration - for the king's use, they said. The executors have not been able to have administration of them, to the peril of John's soul, and in danger of disinheritance of his heir, and they have been and are impleaded and harassed on this account. They request aid and a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Those who seized the goods and chattels are to be ordered etc., and they are to inform the king about how and why they were seized and withheld, and what is rightly to be done is to be done etc.
Places mentioned
Scardeburgh (Scarborough), [North Riding of Yorkshire].
People mentioned
John de Rolleston formerly keeper of the town and castle of Scarborough
Richard de Lustreshull
