William de Sparsalte complains that on St Laurence's day in the fifteenth year of the king's reign, Richard de la Sale, Henry Picard, John Fornot, Walter, bailiff of Chilton, Robert Grey, John le Kynge, John le Teyntour, William de Stoke, Robert Dommedou and many others came to Hungerford with force and arms, seized William, with horses and servants of his, and took him to Chilton, to Henry Tyeys' manor, where they held him in prison for two days and a night. They also took goods and armour from him, to the value of twenty pounds, with damages of forty pounds. He requests grace and a remedy.

The petition is dated to 1322 as the petitioner complains of the people of Henry Tyes, one of the rebels executed in the aftermath of the failed baronial revolt.One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
