Nature of request
John Banastre of Bouk states that when Adam Banastre and Henry du Lee were taken and put to death by Thomas, late earl of Lancaster, various people of Lancashire who were maintained by the earl took and carried off his goods and chattels, to the value of one hundred pounds; and he could have no remedy for this in the earl's lifetime. He requests that the king grant a commission to certain people of the country to enquire into this seizure and to do what is right for him.

One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
