Nature of request
Henry de Kersewell and Robert de Tylviton request that the king order that their lands be returned to them, as they were taken into the king's hand by the sheriff of Staffordshire because they once wore the robes of the countess of Lincoln, and for no other reason - as is found by return of the sheriff made on this - and as they were never found in any wrongdoing against the king.
Nature of endorsement
Those who have the keeping of the lands and tenements, goods and chattels, are to be ordered by writ that if they are in the king's hand for this reason and no other, then they are to be restored to them, on sufficient mainprise to answer to the king at his will on any matter.
