Nature of request
The community of the Lowy of Pevensey, members of the king's port of Hastings, who are making a ship and a quarter of a ship, state that they are quit, by the charter of the king's father, of all tallages, tolls and customs; they are now charged with a levy contrary to their charter. They showed their charters, and a writ was sent to James de Cralle, but he has done nothing. They request an express command to James de Cralle to deliver their distraints, and that they might be quit of such harsh treatment forever.
