Nature of request
Writ from Edward II to the Queen's bailiffs of Pevensey, stating that by a charter of Edward I the men of the Cinque Ports are quit of tolls and customs throughout the realm, and that if the bailiffs have levied tallage for the eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth years of the king's reign from the people on that account, and have distrained them for it, contrary to their charter, they are to cease such distraints and demands, and allow them to be quit of this tallage, as they ought to be, and are to returned the distraints they have taken.
Nature of endorsement
He is to be ordered urgently by a writ of sicut alias to act in accordance with the first writ, and if there is a reasonable reason why he cannot do this, he is to say so quickly, so that the king may further do what is rightly to be done.

The writ is dated to 1321-1322 on the basis of the dating of the petition with which it was enclosed (SC 8/6/280). The writ is dated at York to 13 May, but unfortunately the year is illegible.
