Nature of request
John de Ryvers states that he leased to Gilbert de Clare and his wife Maud, to be held of him, the manor and castle of Ongar, with appurtenances, for term of life of Gilbert and Maud, and after their death Hugh Daudele, the son, and his wife Margaret entered, and kept John de Ryvers out, and continued to do so until the king seized the castle and manor because of Hugh's forfeiture. Maud [de Clare], wife of Gilbert de Clare
Hugh Daudele (Audley) the son
Margaret [Daudele (Audley)], wife of Hugh Daudele.
Note
The petition is dated to 1322 because it is clearly in the aftermath of the failed baronial revolt, Audley being a prominent rebel. One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
