Nature of request
Margery, the widow of John de Chaumpagne, states that, although she was never allied to Bartholomew de Badelesmere, nor did she consent to his misdeeds, and so should not forfeit anything to the king, the sheriff of Kent has seized her lands and chattels into the king's hand, without warrant, on his own authority, and without holding an inquest, claiming that she was an ally of Bartholomew de Badlesmere. She requests a swift remedy.
Nature of endorsement
She is to have a writ in Chancery to the sheriff of Kent, for him to inform the king [in] Chancery about the manner and cause of his taking her lands and tenements, goods and chattels, into the king's hand; and further justice is to be done to the complainant there, in accordance with the tenor of that certification.
