Nature of request
Piers Deyvill states that after the order of Knights Templars was dissolved, all its possessions within the king's allegiance were to revert to the lords of the fees of which they were held, and that when they were dissolved, the Templars held certain tenements in South Cave in fee, of the lordship of Piers' ancestors. However the king seized these tenements, but when he removed his hand Piers entered as other lords enter into their fees, and continued his seisin until Lord Mowbray ejected him by force. These tenements are now in the king's hand through the forfeiture of Lord Mowbray: Piers therefore requests that he might be reseised of them.

Note
One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
