Gilbert de Aton states that he has recovered the Vescy inheritance in the King's court by process of law, because of which the charters and muniments concerning this inheritance, which are in the keeping of the prior of Malton, should belong to him. He requests a writ to the prior, to deliver these documents to him.

One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323). It is also confirmed by CCR 1318-23 p.8, dated at Leek, 8 August 1318, by CCR 1318-23 p.32, dated at York, 26 November 1318, by CCR 1318-23 p.65, dated at Kirkham, 9 April 1319, and by CPR 1321-4 p.435, dated at Tonbridge, 28 June 1324.
