Description
Petitioners
Nicholas au pount de Pikering.
Name(s)
pount de Pikering, Nicholas
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Nicholas au pount de Pikering states that John de Dalton, formerly the earl of Lancaster's bailiff in Pickering, arrested him in Pickering, wrongfully, and by colour of his office, and held him in prison in his house between the feast of Pentecost in the twelfth year of the present king Edward, until the Saturday before the feast of St Margaret following, saying, out of greed for his land, that Nicholas owed the earl more than £10 in arrears for various suits and defaults, although this was not true. And he made him hand over his land before he would let him go, and made him make a deed for this, against his will, in the court of Pickering: wrongly, against the king's peace, and to his harm to the amount of £40. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
He is to sue in Chancery.
Places mentioned
Pickering, [North Riding of Yorkshire].
People mentioned

Note
