Description
Petitioners
John de Fenwyk (Fenwick).
Name(s)
de Fenwyk (Fenwick), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
1) He requests payment of 40 marks annually, granted to him from the issues of Northamptonshire by Edward II, because his lands in Northumberland had been devastated by the Scottish war, in which he served the king, together with arrears of this sum for the last five years, during which time it has not been paid.2) He also requests payment for a debt owed to him for fees and robes, as shown by bills of the wardrobe.
Nature of endorsement
The petition is to be sent into Chancery, and the rolls searched. If it is found that the grant has not be repealed, then a writ is to be sent to the treasurer, barons and chamberlains of the Exchequer that they are to pay him or make him a suitable assignment for the arrears. They are also to be ordered to examine the bills he has for the debt for fees and robes, and if they find that it is still due, they are to make him payment or assignment for that too, receiving the bills and charging etc.

Note
The petition is dated to 1331 because the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer were commanded to examine the matter and make payment if appropriate on 16 October 1331 (CCR 1330-3, p. 367).
