de Styveton [Steeton], Joan
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Joan, daughter of Robert de Styveton [Steeton], states that her parents, Robert de Styveton and his wife Sibyl, held tenements in Halghtoh a fine levied in the king's court, for themselves and the heirs engendered of their two bodies, and that she is their only heir; but that after Robert's death, Sibyl alienated these tenements to Robert de Holand in fee, and they are now in the king's hand through his forfeiture. She requests that she may enter the lands, as is her right both by virtue of the entail and as proved by the fine.
Nature of endorsement
Sibyl is still living; therefore she is to wait.

Naburn, [East Riding of Yorkshire]
People mentioned

Note
The petition is dated to 1322 as Holand died and his estate forfeited in the aftermath of the baronial revolt of 1322.One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
