Nature of request
Aymer le Despenser states that for certain lands and tenements which John Giffard held of him, the said John granted him certain rents for the term of his life, a dry rent to be paid from the villeins of his manor of Badgeworth and a robe from his manor of Brimpsfield; and that these rents, together with all John's lands and tenements, are now in the king's hand through his forfeiture. Therefore he requests that the king order Robert de Aston, keeper of these lands, to have his rent paid to the said Aymer as before.
Nature of endorsement
He is to show what evidence he has for the rent and the robe, and there is to be an enquiry into the truth of the matter and of his seisin; and right is further to be done for him.

The petition is dated to 1322 as it is clearly after the defeat of the baronial rebels at Boroughbridge, Giffard being one of those executed in the aftermath.One of a collection of petitions published on pages 387ff of Rot. Parl., vol I., which all seem to date from around 1322. This dating is confirmed by PROME, Appendix of Unedited Petitions, 1307-1337, Rotuli Parliamentorum I, pp. 387-415, which dates these petitions to 15 or 16 Edward II (1321-1323).
