Nature of request
The prior of the church of the Trinity, Canterbury, complains that, whereas King Edward, the father of the present king, granted him and his convent the chattels of all their men and tenants to be condemned as felons or fugitive, Richard de Pottesgrave has seized into the king's hand the goods and chattels of Walter Colpeper, their tenant and resident condemned to death at Leeds before last Christmas; and requests that the king order Richard to return the goods, so that the church is not disinherited.
