Nature of request
Wellesley requests the grant of the expenses that he incurred in the defence of the castle of Kildare which he provisioned at his own cost during the Scottish invasion. He held the castle in the name of maintenance. He has since been expelled from the castle. He also requests £20 from the lands that were Sir Richard de Weilond's until the heir comes of age.1)
Nature of endorsement
The justiciar will come in time, and the king will have advisement from him.2) It seems to the justiciar that the lord of Donoile already holds them, and he is to answer for £20 per annum to Wellesley from the said extent, and Wellesley should surrender the letters that he has for the keeping of the castle.
