Nature of request
The abbot requests that he may be able to have a sergeant to speak for them in pleas, and to have a jury of 12 men according to the laws of England, as they are denied this in pleas under Welsh law to their great damage.1)
Nature of endorsement
The justice of Wales and Richard ap Griffyth were called on this petition and stated that it was not to the damage of the king if he granted this.2) The king does not wish that the laws be changed.3) Coram rege et consilio.
