Description

Name(s)
de Mounceaux (Monceaux), Thomas
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Mounceaux requests a remedy concerning suit of court that is demanded of him, and which he is prepared to prove he does not owe, because the service and suits that he does owe for his land are owed elsewhere, but he is oppressed because he cannot have a release of the sheriff or the bailiffs, nor a writ of the great seal, and is amerced for the defaults of suit.1)
Nature of endorsement
Walter de Friskeney and Adam de Lymbergh are assigned to enquire of whether he owes suit to Barrow or not, and of all other things contained in the petition, and of other circumstances concerning the business. This is to be in the presence of the bailiff, who is to be ordered by a writ to be at the taking of the inquest, to say for the king what he knows. The inquest is to be returned into Chancery so that which is right can be done.2) Coram rege.
