Coventre shows the king that the king has been deceived and disinherited of an escheat of land in the town of Winchelsea and the marsh of Higham which should have come into his hand by the death of John de Rakle but which was fraudulently claimed by Walter de Rakle by the procurement of the bailiff of Winchelsea.
Nature of endorsement
Let the truth of the contents of the petition by enquired into by a writ to the keeper of the Cinque Ports, and he is to certify the king in Chancery of what he finds.
