Nature of request
The community request that the king make remedy for the maintenance of the law, the keeping of the peace, and the punishment of criminals, for they complain that contrary to the law of the land the marshal of the Bench is allowing those indicted of homicide or other felonies who are not repleviable who are delivered to him to be held in prison by the justices, to go by bail, mainprise or pledge without orders of the justices, causing great harm.
Nature of endorsement
Previously in parliament convened at York Henry le Scrope and his colleagues, justices of pleas, in the presence of the king were enjoined that prisoners of this kind were to be kept in prison, and keepers who disobeyed this were to be punished. Therefore the previous mandate is to be recited, and again enjoined upon him, or if the complainant should wish it he should have a writ of Chancery
