Note
This petition is part of a long running dispute between the de la Pole family and John de Charlton, which began around 1309 and flared up again in 1328-32. This particular petition appears to date to some point shortly before 22 September 1322. John Charlton joined the rebellion against Edward II in 1321-22 and was deprived of his lands at some point before February 1322, before being restored to Edward's favour on 22 September (CPR 1321-4, p. 202).
