Description

Nature of request
Copy of a writ of the king to the sheriff of Lincolnshire that he has granted to Thomas son of Thomas de Multon, who is within age, that the debt of his father for the farm of certain lands of the alien abbey of Langonnet in Saltfleetby which came into the hand of the king's father because of the French war, for which debt Thomas son of Thomas was by a summons of the Exchequer to be charged of all the goods and chattels which were his father's, is to be exonerated of the debt on the lands which he holds, though it is to be levied from those in the hands of the others. The sheriff is to permit this.
Nature of endorsement
The treasurer and barons of the Exchequer, not withstanding any order of the king for the exoneration of the heir from the debt contained in the petition and it being levied from others, the debt both from the lands in the hand of the heir, and also from the lands existing in the hand of the aforesaid treasurer and Roger, the custodian is to be levied as it seems just.
